Applications for 2011 fellowships will be available in November 2009.
These fellowships are available to candidates who are eligible to take the examination of the American Board of Surgery, Otolaryngology, or Plastic Surgery. All fellowships are for one or two years. Having a carefully structured evaluation system, these programs are site visited, reviewed and approved by the Executive Council of the American Head & Neck Society. A diploma is awarded by the Society to those candidates who follow the rigid criteria and successfully complete the fellowship. The applications and appointments for fellowship are processed through a central matching program.
Doctors who have received a D.O. are not eligible to participate in the AHNS match. However, applicants with a D.O. can contact the fellowship programs after the match occurs to see if a position is available and if their qualifications are a fit for the program.
The match will be performed on June 15, 2009, so all interviews and associated materials must be finalized prior to that date. It is the responsibility of the candidates to set up interviews and send all materials to the American Head and Neck Society in a timely manner. Interviews can not be set-up without all required material being submitted to the American Head and Neck Society.

Match application forms may be downloaded and returned to the American Head and Neck Society office in the winter and spring of the year preceding fellowship. Application forms will not be available until October-November 2008 for the 2010 match.

Information for Institutions
Each fellowship program approved by the Training Council undergoes site review at regular intervals. During these reviews, the Training Council analyzes the program's strengths and weaknesses, ensuring adherence to the core curriculum, adequate faculty participation, caseload, and overall quality is maintained. Programs may apply for approval by contacting Aaron Goodman at aaron@ahns.info and requesting an application.
