In Memoriam: Duane Sewell, MD, PhD, Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Duane Sewell, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, who passed away on November 27, 2011 following a battle with gastric cancer. He was only 44 years old.

Free Head and Neck Surgery Course:  The 6th Annual AHNS/AAO Resident and Fellow Review Course will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 11:30am-5:30pm, during the AAO-HNS meeting.  The course will take place at the Moscone Center located at 747 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94103 in meeting room 250-262.  A complete schedule is located here.

Prevention and Early Detection 2011 Community Service Grants

The Prevention and Early Detection congratulates Nagashree Seetharamu, MD from the New York University School of Medicine as well as Ryan Winters, MD from Tulane University for winning the two 2011 Prevention and Early Detection Community Service Grants.  The committee would also like to present an Honorable Mention to the Tata Memorial Hospital and Vanderbilt Univesity.  Congratulations to all and look for information on the 2012 Prevention and Early Detection Community Grant early next year.

AHNS Humanitarian Committee and Project

AHNS Council will establish a Humanitarian Committee with the following charge: The Humanitarian Committee will encourage and support the efforts of AHNS membership to assist underserved populations at home and abroad through volunteer activities and will seek to develop shared resources for communication, encouragement, development of resources and organization of activities. [AHNS does not endorse or encourage any particular faith, but recognizes that good work and opportunities are often accomplished by particular faith-based organizations. Individual members are free to work with such organizations, and the AHNS humanitarian committee will support their efforts in an ecumenical nonsectarian manner. For more information, click here »
